Tips to Choose and Use Foundation

Test foundation along your jaw line – not on your hand and definitely not on the inside of your wrist. View it under different light settings. It must match the natural color of your neck.

* For easy transition from day to night makeup, touch up with Sacha’s Dual Activ Foundation. If will provide the finish of a powder with the coverage of a foundation.

* Dampen your cosmetics sponge to create a sheer finish.

* For a great makeover you must start with the right foundation. Whereas eye shadow, lipstick, and blusher accent the face, it is the foundation that sets the tone for a woman’s appearance. Sacha’s foundations are all yellow-based. If you are like most women, you have yellow-based skin and must wear a yellow-based foundation. Our Sacha Foundations are available in cream, liquid, or dual activ (powder and foundation in one). Test foundation on the jaw line or forehead.

* If you want your foundation to look sheer, apply it with a sponge. For more coverage apply it with your fingertips. Professional makeup artists prefer using a makeup brush as this will apply and blend the foundation beautifully.

* Tap foundation on with sponge or finger. Your skin will look luminous, yet natural.

* To give the skin a dewy finish, moisten a gauze pad or wash cloth in astringent and gently pat your already made up face. The astringent (witch hazel is perfect) will remove the matte look of makeup, while leaving the skin radiant.

* Open your mouth when applying foundation to expose the neck area and eliminate an obvious line at the jaw line.

* Keep two shades of foundation on hand. One will be suitable for winter, and the other for summer skin. Most of the year, they will match perfectly if mixed together.

* If the foundation starts to curdle, do not use it anymore.

Know About Mascara

Mascara coats the lashes, making them thick, long, lustrous and more noticeable. You can choose from 3 different forms of mascara – water-based, water-proof and the mixed variety.

Water-based mascaras can be applied quickly because they dry rapidly. They can also be removed easily, so they are gentle to the lashes and the eyes. But there are several problems with their use: because the water evaporates quickly, the lashes tend to clump together; as the film is not water-proof, the mascara smudges easily when it comes in contact with water, tears, and perspiration; because of the high water content, these products are difficult to preserve and have a short keeping life.

Because of these disadvantages of waterbased mascaras, the water-proof variety has become popular. Water-proof mascaras are generally long wearing, water-proof and smudge-proof; but they are difficult to remove and you may have to use a cosmetic cleaner to remove them. Because they take long to dry they have a tendency to smear unless you are careful. Though they colour and appear, to lengthen the lashes well, they do not thicken them much. They are however a good investment, because they are resistant to contamination and can be used even years after they have been manufactured.

The third variety of mascara is a combination of the earlier two types. These dry quickly, produce little or no smudging and are the latest in the field of mascaras.

Purpose of Mascara

Mascara only used to be available in black, but nowadays you can find it in all sorts of colours. So while black mascara was used for the sole purpose of making your eyelashes stand out without calling attention to the fact that you have mascara on, coloured mascara is now used to make a bold statement. If you choose coloured mascara, it is recommended that you stick to darker colours like navy blue or plum, as opposed to light blue or green. The latter is just too bizarre and unnatural for our tastes. Mascara comes in a wand with a tube, there are straight wands and there are curved wands. The shape of the wand is a matter of preference so you have the permission to experiment with both.

Makeup on Dark Skin

While many women have been blessed with a dark skin tone, the perception of beauty standards has changed and evolved to accommodate all varieties of complexions and features. The peaches and cream complexion is no longer the criterion for judging beauty and manufacturers of top cosmetic products have long come to realize the needs to cater to a wide section of makeup for men and women of different skin tones, including products of makeup for dark skin.

Beauty Products and Makeup for Dark Skin

While an even skin tone is the best feature to start a cosmetic makeover with, those with a dark skin are usually skeptical of trying to break through the color schemes usually marketed at for fairer skinned persons. However, a bit of ingenuity and color-mixing know-how can change that into experimental beauty and mesmerising makeup for dark skin, be it natural or intentionally sun-tanned.

  • The greatest advantage of makeup application for dark skin is that it is less prone to pimples, blackheads, spots and shadows/pigmentation that a fair complexion may be in danger of. This makes it easier to achieve a healthy glow to the complexion for dark skinned people, most of whom have an even-toned skin that is an easy and ready base for foundation blending.
  • A liquid foundation is the best base makeup for dark skin; however, since dark skin has a tendency to shine, it is prudent to pick a shade of foundation that is darker than the skin. Furthermore, lighter shades are unsuitable as they can end up making the face look patchy and result in poor photographic quality, if the occasion calls for snapshots.
  • It makes cosmetic common sense to hunt for the correct shade of foundation since it is the base of all makeup to follow. A good way to blend it into the skin is by adding a little distilled water to the foundation and rubbing the lotion well so as to absorb it in skin, otherwise the foundation will appear in waves on the face after a while.
  • A very light dusting of powder/bronzer is recommended as it can detract from the smooth glow of the foundation crème.
  • Almond brown or copper tinged mascara/moistened eye shadow works well with most dark skin persons and a hint of a metallic shade at the end of the eyelashes adds to the glamorous touch for an evening out.
  • Lipstick choices are entirely dependent on the occasion and the way you feel, rather than the conventional shades aggressively advertised for dark skin. Stray from the regular shades like deep pink, mauve, plum and try a peach with gold highlights in the center of the lips; even a full-on wine-red dotted with gloss and glitter is a great bet!.

Get Proper Party Makeup

When its time to party, everyone wants to be part of the fun. And where fun is, glamour is never far away! So, if you want to be the flavor of the party, there’s no better place to start than at your dressing table- I mean it! Try a departure from the daily demeanor of controlled cosmetics and take on the diva dazzler look with great party makeup tips- from us, of course!

Set the Mood: Party Makeup Basic Guidelines

Since party makeup is all about being special and part of a great time out (we hope), it needs a completely different approach and a dash of adventure to be successfully implemented. Here’s how to begin:

  • Start Right- choose your dress, footwear and accessories the day before and co-ordinate your look for the big occasion in advance. This will help you get an idea about how you will look when all the elements are put together and give you a chance to mix and match (or discard) colors and coordinates with the maximum style.
  • Do your Hair Differently. If you’ve always pulled it back in a bun or braid, rinse it well and condition your crowning glory so you can leave it loose. Try securing fresh flowers, a bejeweled hair slide or parting it differently for a fresh, new look.
  • The many new and affordable temporary highlights available in the market today make highlighting your hair an easy and hassle-free task and it’s a great party conversation starter too! Just kidding; though, a touch of metallica on your mane can be a surefire way to add to your allure. If you are not keen on metallic colors, you can opt for a single streak of red, amber, brown or midnight blue close to your parting.
  • Ensure your nails are well manicured and neat. If dazzling nail color is not your style, you can opt for a French manicure or clear nail varnish to show off fashionably shaped talons. Temporary nail art stickers are inexpensive and trendy ways to make a style statement and are a great party makeup option.
  • Fake eyelashes are great when party makeup is being talked about. A double dose of mascara can make up for the lack of these when primped by an eyelash curler and are a mystically marvelous way to make heads turn!.
  • If eyes are downplayed, then lips can be highlighted for balancing out the tone of party makeup. Applying foundation on the lips, waiting a minute or two and then applying your favorite lip color is the way to go. You can use blotting paper/tissue to quickly dab away excess color, reapply the lipstick and finish off with a touch of glitter, shine or lip gloss for a full-blown, sensational pucker-up session with such great party make-up.
  • Go Gold! A touch of the sun cannot go amiss and gold dust is easily available at cosmetic counters for achieving that sun-goddess look, which is great party makeup wear.

What is oily skin and how is it caused?
Oily skin is caused by over-active glands, which produce too much sebum. Sebum is produced by the sebaceous glands. It is necessary as it helps lubricate your skin and carries away dead skin cells. When the skin is oily, too much sebum is being produced. The skin becomes dull and greasy and pores may become clogged.

The extra secretion of sebum can be caused by many factors. Heredity, diet, birth control pills and the wrong cosmetics can all cause oily skin. Hormonal balances can also affect the production of sebum, which is why oily skin is often common in teenagers, pregnant women or women going through menopause.
Problems Faced by People with Oily Skin
People with oily skin often suffer from skin problems, like blemishes, acnes, black heads, white heads and pimples. Enlarged and clogged pores may be a problem. Oily skin often looks dull and shiny. With the right oily skin treatment, it is possible to treat such problems.
How to have less oily skin
Oily skin, and the problems it brings, can be minimized. Thorough cleansing can prevent some of the problems associated with oily skin, as it removes the dirt and dust and stops the pores becoming clogged. As make-up can also clog pores, it is important that all make-up is removed before going to bed. Here are some more tips on how to have less oily skin.

NATURAL METHODS

Natural oily skin care can be very effective. Food intake, proper hydration, herbal care and other natural remedies can all help provide the proper treatment for oily skin.

Food Intake

To improve your oily skin through nutrition, eat plenty of foods that are rich in protein. Include lots of leafy vegetables and fresh fruit. Vitamin B2 can help prevent oily skin, so include good sources of B2 by eating wheat germs, whole grains, beans and nuts.

Cut down on the amount of sugar and fat in your diet, and avoid soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, chocolate and fried food.

Hydration

People sometimes make the mistake that oily skin does not need to be hydrated, but oil is not moisture. Keep your skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water. A good moisturizer, that is suited to oily skin, can also help keep your oily skin hydrated.

Nail Art

Basic self-manicuring should be done once a week and only takes 15-20 minutes. It is also commonly recommended (although I don’t do it myself) to visit a professional manicurist every 4-6 weeks.
  1. Remove old nail polish. Moisten a cottonball with nail polish remover and press over the nail for a few seconds to soften the polish. Firmly bring the cotton from the base of the nail to the tip. Repeat until all the polish is gone.
  2. Shape the nail. Using an emery board, file each nail tip from corner to center. Do not file back and forth or in a “see-saw” motion over the nail since that can cause ridges and splitting.
  3. Clean the fingers/nails. Soak the hands in warm soapy water for a few minutes to loosen dirt. Use an orange wood stick to clean under the free edge of each nail. You may want to use a toothbrush to gently scrub away stubborn dirt especially under the nails. (Tip: Don’t use the same toothbrush you use for your teeth… that’s just really disgusting… sometimes I wonder about you!)
  4. Push back the cuticle. The cuticle is the skin that grows from the finger onto the base of the nail. Some professionals actually suggest that the cuticle be left in tact to help prevent infections. If you decide to work on them, do not cut the cuticles or push them back excessively.
  5. Apply clear nail polish. There is no need to by items designed as a “base coat” or “top coat.” Clear polish or a clear nail hardener does the trick. Let the polish completely dry before continuing.
  6. Apply color nail polish if desired. Make sure the polish is dry before applying another coat (if needed). You may want to apply a top coat of clear polish to prevent chipping of the colored polish.
  7. Moisturize the hands and cuticles. Apply a moisturizing cream or lotion to help prevent nail splitting and keep them flexible. Polish and hardeners can actually make the nail more try and susceptible to chips so don’t assume you need hardener. I use a clear base coat more since it helps keep colored polish from staining my nails which sometimes happens.

Lip Balms
Lips go through a bad time during cold and dry months. They have a real tough time coping with the worst climatic conditions. Dry chapped lips, which are the result of lack of moisture in the skin, lead to embarrassment and frustration. It is here that lip balms come to rescue.

Get Proper Eye Care

  • Don’t wear contact lenses for extended periods of time or overnight as this leads to complication.

Less Time taking Excercise Tips

You may be a very busy professional. But that is no excuse for avoiding exercise. Even if you do not have the time or convenience to work out at the gym, you can keep yourself fit through a simple exercise program that you can do even while you are stuck at the office. The key to this fitness program is that the exercise sessions are all very short and last only from five to 10 minutes at a time.

The best way to go about this type of program is to have a checklist of all the exercises you will be doing. You can vary the sequence of exercises and you can be flexible about when you do them, it is only important that you are able to check off the exercises on your list by the end of the day.

So what type of exercises will you be doing? You will need to do aerobic exercise and stretching. You can also do strength training if you want to make your body more fit and shapely. The amount of aerobic exercise should add up to at least 30 minutes per day, although 60 minutes would be ideal. You need not do 30 minutes of exercise all in one go, but can accumulate it throughout the day. One of the best ways you can do this is through brisk walking whenever possible. Brisk walking can burn up five to 6 calories per minute, compared to the 3.5 calories per minute that are used up in regular walking.

Also, when you are not in a hurry, you should take the stairs instead of the elevator. Climbing stairs can burn up 8 calories per minute. You can check your progress with the use of a pedometer. This is a device that can count the number of steps that you take. For full exercise, work for achieving 10,000 to 15,000 steps every day.

Stretching can be done in your office or cubicle between long work sessions. You should do stretches for your arms, legs and neck. If you also do strength training for your chest, then do chest stretching exercises as well. Stretching is perfectly natural and should not bother anyone at the office. Besides, stretching promotes alertness and concentration.

For strength training, you can keep light and portable equipment under your desk at work. Small dumbbells, ankle weights, and exercise rubber bands are some things that you might use. You can do one or two training sessions every hour, for at least five minutes per session, and not worry about sweating in your office clothes.

Maintain a Healthy Weight

Expert advice to help you maintain a healthy weight

Dissatisfied with your weight?
We’re bombarded with scare stories about weight, from size zero to the obesity ‘epidemic’. But a healthy weight is determined by different factors for each of us. Our expert advice is designed to help you achieve and maintain a healthy, life-enhancing weight.

Overweight or underweight?
Being the right weight has a positive effect on wellbeing but also on our health, as being the wrong weight can cause a range of medical problems.More and more of us are eating out on a regular basis, whether it’s for a business lunch, a girls’ get together, or for a family meal.

The 2006 Family Food Survey found that households where the head of the household was under 30 years old were spending more than 40 per cent of their food budget on eating out.

Eating out usually means that we have little control over how the food is prepared or how large the portion is. Foods eaten out tend to be higher in fat and research has shown that those who eat out regularly generally have higher intakes of fat, salt and calories. Studies have also shown that eating with friends can tempt us to overeat. Meals with multiple courses eaten over longer periods and with alcohol are all associated with overindulgence. Large serving bowls and spoons increase the likelihood of piling more food on your plate than you usually eat.

Unlike packaged food, foods bought from cafes, restaurants etc don’t have to carry nutritional information and so opting for the healthiest option might not always be obvious, or easy. However, with some knowledge and thought, eating out can be enjoyable and healthy!

General tips
If you’re unsure as to what something is, or what it contains – ask! If the waiter/waitress doesn’t know, then the chef will.
Think ahead, if you know you’re eating out later and it could be a lavish affair, choose wisely earlier in the day to keep calories, fat, sugar and salt intakes under control.
Don’t eat an extra course just to be polite.
Only order a sweet after the main course, and only if still hungry. Opt for sorbets, or fruit dishes to balance out a heavy main course.
Think about sharing a course with a companion if the portions look large.
Speak up about how you’d like a dish prepared eg ask for no mayonnaise, dressing on the side.
You’re more likely to overeat at an ‘all you can eat’ style buffet.
Choose side orders of salad or vegetables to fill up on.
Cut off any visible fat from meat to keep saturated fat intake down.
Look out for smaller portions ie a main meal option as a starter size.
Opt for dishes which are grilled, baked, steamed, poached or cooked in own juice rather than fried.
Check the menu for dressings on salads and ask for it to be served separately. An otherwise healthy and nutritious salad could be drowned in a high fat sauce, bumping up its calorie content.
Avoid cheese, cream or butter-based sauces
If you’re a cheese lover, think about sharing the cheese board option to keep saturated fat, salt and calorie intakes in check.

Healthy Tricks to Slim down

Sneaky ways to slim down

All you need is a minute to start shedding pounds! Here are dozens of successful strategies to cut calories and burn more fat that take 60 seconds or less. With about 1,000 waking minutes in every day, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to slip these tips into your routine — and watch the scale go down. If you’ve already begun losing weight, these can maximize your efforts and speed results!

1. Mix a juice spritzer

Combine your favorite juice (half of your usual amount) with plain or sparkling water. You can cut up to 85 calories per glass — and lose 5 pounds or more a advertisement year.

2. Pick up the cordless

Burn calories while you talk: Do the laundry (68 calories), set the table (85 calories) or water plants (102 calories). (Values based on a 150-pound person and half an hour of activity.)

3. Pop a piece of gum

Researchers recently discovered that chewing sugar-free gum all day increases your metabolic rate by about 20%. That could burn off more than 10 pounds a year.

4. Pay cash for treats

Anytime someone offers you goodies and you accept, put $1.00 aside. Then give the money to your kids. When you literally pay for treats, you’re more likely to say, “No thanks.”

5. Study the wrapper

At a quick glance, that candy bar appears to contain 220 calories. But a closer look may reveal that it (or a bottle of juice, bag of crackers or bag of nuts) provides two or more servings — which more than doubles those calories.

6. Sip green tea before you walk

The caffeine frees fatty acids so that you burn fat more easily. And the polyphenols (antioxidant compounds) in green tea appear to work with caffeine to increase calorie burn. (If you have high blood pressure, skip this tip.)

7. Ditch diet shakes

The calorie savings are only temporary; you just eat more later.

8. Pack a lunch

Dining out more than five times a week may make you eat nearly 300 calories more a day than if you dine out less frequently.

9. Dip your bread

Use olive oil in place of butter; it’s healthier and may also help you eat less. In a recent study, dippers ate a total of 52 fewer calories on average than those who used butter.

10. Sprinkle flax on your cereal

High-fiber, ground flaxseed can help curb your appetite and eliminate calories. Add it to yogurt or muffin and bread mixes. Available in health food stores.

11. Dress with this

1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
1/4 tsp olive oil
3/4 tsp dijon mustard
1/4 tsp horseradish
Mix together. It makes for a tasty salad dressing with only 20 calories and 1.5 grams of fat.

12. Schedule a blood test

About 1 in every 12 women (most of whom don’t know it) has an under- active thyroid, which can slow down her metabolism.

13. Supersize your H2O

Buy the big bottle when it comes to good-for-you stuff such as water.

14. Trick your tastebuds

Sucking on a menthol/eucalyptus cough drop can stop cravings instantly.

15. Spice up your meals

Adding hot chile pepper (or capsaicin) to food may help you stop eating sooner.

16. Pour a white cocktail

Like water, low-fat milk’s volume fills your stomach, but it also contains carbohydrates, so you eat less.

17. Chunk your salad

Chop carrots, celery, sweet potatoes, zucchini or other veggies instead of shredding or slicing. It takes more effort to munch bigger pieces, so you’ll do more chewing and eat less during the main course.

18. Call a friend

Fill loneliness with talk — not cookies.

19. Log your food

Writing down what you eat can help you stay in control because you’re more accountable. No need to record it perfectly or review what you wrote: The benefit is in the writing itself.

20. Fidget

You can burn up to 700 calories a day!

21. Retire the remotes

You could easily burn 200 extra calories a day if you stop using the TV/VCR remote, garage door opener, electric can opener, riding mower and other laborsaving devices.

22. Spray — don’t drizzle

Use an olive oil sprayer such as MISTO to add flavor to salads, chicken, fish, or pasta, without all the calories. A 2-second spray evenly distributes about 1/2 teaspoon of oil, compared to the 2 or 3 teaspoons you might get when pouring. That’ll save you up to 100 calories per use.

23. Buy small

The bigger the package, the more you’re likely to eat — up to 44% more, according to one study.

24. Break into a jog

If you already jog, speed up to a sprint. These brief intervals allow you to cover more distance and burn more calories — without lengthening your workout. The increased impact will also help make your bones stronger.

25. Measure before cooking

It’s easy to overeat pasta, but not if you cook the right amount at the start. For a perfect portion, keep a quarter near your spaghetti. Its diameter is exactly the size of the 2-ounce stack (about 200 calories) that you should serve per person. Or buy a dry-pasta measurer sold in gourmet cooking stores.

26. Rent a spooky movie

You’re less likely to eat when you’re fearful, but more likely when you’re angry or happy.

27. Reflect on your choices

Looking at yourself in a mirror while you eat may help you consume 22 to 32% less.

28. Drop and do 10

Before you pry open that tub of ice cream, do 10 situps or pushups. Doing something physical can put you back in touch with your body and your goals.

29. Take a whiff

When you really want those fresh-baked cookies, try this: Indulge in the smell for 30 seconds. Then place a small piece on the tip of your tongue for another 30 seconds. Savoring the smell and taste can help you stop at just one cookie.

30. Have chunky soup

People who ate soup containing large vegetable pieces reported feeling fuller and ate 20% less during lunch than those who had a pureed soup made of the same ingredients.

31. Blot the fat

You can dab off about a teaspoon of oil — or 40 calories and 4.5 grams of fat — from two slices of pizza.

32. Skip “light” foods

The weight of food — not just the fat and calories — is what fills you up. Eat less and still feel satisfied with low-calorie heavyweights such as oranges, strawberries, grapefruit, cantaloupe, cooked spinach, collard greens, and broccoli.

33. Order fish

Varieties rich in omega-3 fatty acids– tuna, mackerel, cod, and salmon — may help you drop pounds by improving fat metabolism. Overweight people who ate a reduced-calorie diet that included fish every day lost about 20% more weight than those on a fish-free diet.

34. Post inspiration

To keep yourself on track, place quotes in strategic spots where you might need some motivation: on the fridge, TV, dashboard, or computer. Some suggestions: “You’ve come too far to take orders from a cookie.” “Nothing tastes as good as thin feels.”

35. Drink, drink, drink

Dehydration can slow your metabolism by 3%. At a weight of 150 pounds, that would be about 45 fewer calories burned a day — which could mean 5 extra pounds a year.

Take Healthy Food and Stay Healthy

10 Ways to Make Staying Healthy Easier

In our busy lives, the quest to stay healthy can all too easily fall to the bottom of the to-do list. To help, we’ve compiled 10 simple tips experts say can make getting and staying in good health easier to achieve.

1. Believe you can be healthy

While this tip may sound deceptively simple, studies have found that doing so can pay off in a longer, healthier life, says Karen DeSalvo, MD, professor and chief of general internal medicine at Tulane University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. While researchers don’t completely understand why, DeSalvo speculates that those who believe they can be healthy are more likely to take the steps necessary to make it happen — and less likely to leave their health up to chance or fate.

2. Manage your medications

Do you take more than one medication on a daily basis? If so, an old-fashioned pillbox with compartments separated by day and time is still the best way to make sure you’re taking your medicines as directed, says Deborah Sturpe, PharmD, assistant professor at University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in Baltimore. “It’s impossible to line up 10 bottles on your dresser and remember what you’ve taken and when,” she says. With a pillbox, you’ll know if you’ve taken your medications at a glance.

3. Speak the same language

If your doctor speaks in medical jargon you don’t comprehend, don’t hesitate to ask for clarification, says David Baker, MD, chief of general internal medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Studies show patients who understand their ailment and their treatment plan not only do better, they’re also more satisfied with their care. If your doctor won’t translate, consider switching to another provider who will.

4. Keep a health journal

While many patients believe their doctor will remind them when it is time for an important test or exam, the reality is that most doctors don’t have the time to extensively track each patient, says DeSalvo. You can help by buying a notebook to record the results from tests and exams you’ve had — and note those you still need. Charts listing what tests you should have depending on your age are available on the Internet and in medical reference books. Your health journal is also a handy place to keep track of your symptoms between doctors’ appointments, as well as to list the names and contact numbers of all your health care professionals, she says.

5. Take advantage of automation

Thanks to new technologies, patients can get medication refill reminders by email, order prescriptions on their pharmacy’s website or by phone, or have them sent automatically by mail. Such tools help prevent lapses in doses caused by forgetting to refill a prescription on time, says Sturpe. “Each pharmacy offers different services,” she says. “Call around and find out what’s available in your area.” Don’t have access to the Internet? Get the same effect by marking refill dates on your calendar three days before you’ll need them in case of a glitch, she adds.

6. Do everything in moderation

When it comes to staying healthy, excess in either direction can be bad, says DeSalvo. “Whether it’s alcohol or vitamins, fast food or soy, watching TV or working out, too much of anything can be bad for your health,” she says. An all-or-nothing approach often leads to frustration and failure, studies show. She recommends shooting for the middle road instead. For example, if your goal is to start running again, start out with a brisk walk and gradually up the pace over a period of several weeks, rather than force yourself to run to the point of exhaustion on the first day and possibly end up with an injury.

7. Put a stop to negative thoughts

When you’re feeling stressed and overwhelmed, negative thought patterns can creep in, says Reg Williams, PhD, RN, a professor at the University of Michigan’s School of Nursing in Ann Arbor. The resulting emotions then set off physical reactions that can weaken your immune system and open the door to illness. Try this instead, he recommends: Close your eyes and visualize a big red stop sign. Replace negative thoughts like, “I’ll never finish this project,” with a positive one such as, “I can handle this challenge,” and put a stop to the unhealthy downward spiral.

8. Know what pills you take — and why

When patients understand why they are taking a certain medication, studies show they are much more likely to take it as directed and reap the therapeutic benefits, says Sturpe. Patients should also bring their prescription, over-the-counter, vitamin and herbal supplements with them to their doctors’ appointments, says DeSalvo. The move can help their doctor be sure new medications won’t cause dangerous interactions.

9. Build a support system

Whether you’re trying to quit smoking, get active, lose weight or manage a chronic health condition, tapping into the support of family and friends makes success more likely than going it solo, says Sturpe. Meet a friend for a walk.

10. Enjoy yourself!

It may sound too good to be true, but that’s exactly what research has found can help ward off sickness, says Carl Charnetski, PhD, professor of psychology at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA. “Behaviors that are pleasurable, as a rule, tend to be associated with boosts in immune function,” Charnetski says. Whatever your interest — from painting to music to gardening to travel — making fun time a mandatory part of life can pay off big in health benefits, he adds.

Beautiful Long Hair

Hair and Facts

Many misapprehensions are there about our hair and its care and concerns. Once we know the truth, the solution for hair dispute becomes rational and commonsensical and we can well be familiar with it to give real good care. The most extensively held false impression relating to hair is that it is live organic material, and everyone thinks that newly discovered commercial medicine/any hair related product would solve the condition. This is a wrong notion that people have in their mind but the truth is that hair is only living matter at its base below the surface of the scalp and not on it’s tip. Like the tip of one’s fingernail, hair is non-living matter, and can be clipped shorter and discarded. This fact alone brings us to two important finales about how one may preserve stronger and better looking with shiny hair.

Remarks about hair breakage and hair loss
Many people are perplexed that it is safer to comb the hair while it is dry. One must understand that the hair can widen up to fifty percentage of its length while wet without breakage, however, while dry, hair will break before it widen twenty-five percentage of its length. It is best to keep a wide-toothed comb within your shower to fasten split-ends.

Lot many of us feel scared upon seeing our hairbrush/comb and wash drain filled with an excessive quantity of their hair. It’s a fact that that each strand of our hair has a lifespan of 2 to 7 years before a new hair begins to grow in its position, pushing it out to end up in one’s brush or shower drain. This means each person discards about 60 hairs from their head everyday. If one has longer hair it may give the fake looks that they are shedding more hair daily than the average amount. One should only be alarmed if the hair being shed daily is not being replaced by new hair growth.

Hair and Healthy appearance
Our hair is the first feature that acts as a mirror to show your overall healthiness and hence to pay attention to your diet and daily exercise is as significant as you dress up. Give your scalp a boost by brushing dry hair daily starting at the roots. Use a natural boar bristle brush, with a wooden base. This will stimulate the roots of the hair and massage the muscles of the scalp.

Your shampooing process should be gentle, and not overloaded with conditioners that prevent proper cleansing. Rotate conditioning with moisturizers and deep protein treatments. A Cream wash should be used after every shampoo, because it’s not the same as your conditioner. It will spoil your hair at no time.

Discover steps to Enjoy Hair Care
Long or short your hair offers many different looks. It is truly enjoyable to make different hairstyles. Ask your stylist for a lesson on quick changes using clips and hair sticks. There are many books and videos to help you learn basic or advanced braiding. When you learn to easily handle your length, you’ll find you enjoy it so much more.

Good Hair Care Product

Proper haircare shows from the top of your head, so you want to be on top of your hair. The importance of well cared for hair can be found in the careful selection of haircare products. Hair care requires patience along with gentle hair care products and a hair cut every few months. Hair color is a wonderful option for creating a new look for yourself and haircare products are becoming less harmful to your hair care

HAIR CARE

Haircare should be considered when you are coloring your hair using hair color products that won’t harm your scalp or damage your hair. Haircare coloring is not only quick and easy but the chemicals in products are much less caustic to the hair than they were years ago. Beautiful and natural looking hair color is as saught after as ever and with the the proper haircare and color, you can bring out your eyes and make your skin glow. There are several different types of hair color. Some simply lay color on top of the hair and others require a chemical reaction that takes place inside the hair shaft.

When it comes to normal haircare coloring, permanent color is the most popular choice because it lasts the longest and gives the most dramatic change of tone. Hair care products are available in permanent hair colors that will last until you cut your hair and/or your roots grow out. Demipermanent color is the technique known as “tone on tone” and is gentler than permanent color because it doesn’t contain ammonia. The downside is it only lasts around six weeks before it fades. Temporary color is great if you don’t want to make a full committment to change your hair color from blonde to black. Temporary colors can last for up to eight shampoos.

Lips Makeup

* If you are not fortunate to have full lips, wear the lightest, frostiest lipsticks you can find. They will cause your lips to look fuller. Follow with Sacha Cosmetics lipgloss.

* To prevent lipstick from getting on your teeth, put your finger in your mouth and close your lips-when you withdraw your finger it will remove excess color.

* You should use Sacha’s Vitamin E Lip Protector before application of any type of lipstick. It moisturizes and nourishes the lips preventing dryness and cracking.

* To create your own smudge-resistant lipstick blot your lips with one sheet of twoply tissue. Re-apply lipstick and blot again. This will absorb the oils in the product and leave the pigment and matte waxes.

* If you are over 40 we advise that you should avoid wearing matte lipsticks. You will look best with a little shine on your lips. Our makeup artists recommend that you always use a lip liner since it builds a dam that keeps the lipstick from ‘bleeding’.

* To remove lipstick from clothing, apply glycerine on the spot, rub lightly and wash as normal.

* No matter what color lipstick you choose ,apply lip liner to the outline and fill in your lips. You can then follow with a gloss or lipstick. When wearing a red lipstick, use a brown lip liner all over first as the red pigment will last longer.

* A great way to organize your lipsticks or use up the end of your lipstick is to dig out or cut off a chunk of lip color and place it in a lipstick palette case.

* Please DO NOT wear black or green lipstick (unless it is for halloween or some party).

* If you see any liquid or water coming out of the lipstick, keep it in a refrigerator.

* Avoid using very old lipsticks. They might cause pigmentation of the lips

Lipgloss

* Apply lip gloss over lipstick or alone. Remember that gloss would emphasize and therefore make your lips appear to be fuller.

* Women with extra-full lips, should use lip gloss very sparingly.

Lip Liner

* If lip liner is too dark tone it down with a small amount of foundation then reapply lip liner.

* Always use lip liner before and after applying lipstick to define the lips.

* Always sharpen your lip liner before lining your lips then touch the tip of the pencil gently to warm, soften and smooth the point.

* NEVER wear lip liner and lipstick colors together when they are contrasting colors.

* When applying lipstick, fill in your lips with a lip liner first. By this way the second coat of lipstick stays longer.

* No matter what color lipstick you choose ,apply lip liner to the outline and fill in your lips. You can then follow with a gloss or lipstick. When wearing a red lipstick, use a brown lip liner all over first as the red pigment will last longer.

The Hand Care Tips

Look at your hands now and tell yourself what you see?

Beautifull and gorgeous hands are so important.

Hands tells everything about yourself, how you live your life and love your body. They say that hands give a woman’s age away, well so what! But gorgeous hands are the carriers of your personality, no matter in what situation and age you are.

You wear fancy designer clothes, imagine the negative effects if you combine these fancy clothes with abbandonded hands.

Look around you and see how hands are the centre of communication. At a party, or even a job interview, your hands are your business card.

Your hands are the ultimate tool invented ever, but you don’t realize how importants these tools are. You just use them all day; Shaking hands, cooking, doing your hair, feel, touch, work, write. Endless, think about this for a second.

And decide now, no matter what your age is, to treat them as your treasure.

  • The skin of the hand is so thin, protect the skin.
  • Pamper your hands with your personal hand lotion, 4 times a day.
  • Exfoliate once a week with a face exfoliater.
  • Use once a week your face night cream also on your hands before you go to sleep.
  • Get accustomed to using rubber gloves whenever you do housework.
  • Prevent your hands from aging or abusing.
  • Protect your hands from dry weather as well as protecing them from the sun.
  • Use daily a protective barrier.

With other words: The best way to take care of your hands is to protect them.

How TO Apply Blush on?

Draw an imaginary line downwards from the center of the eye.
  • This is the furthest point on the cheek where blush should be applied.
  • Apply blush along cheekbone from hair line downwards to avoid ending up with a heavy “blob” of color on the cheek.
  • Always remember less is best.
  • Be sure to do the blush test. Once you are done with your entire makeup stand back, look in the mirror. Check to see if your face is ‘balanced’. You should have on just enough blush to make you look as though you are blushing. If you have on any more than that you need to tone it down.
  • To soften blush apply some powder over your blush. In the evening you have a little more liberty and so you could go a bit heavier according to the look you wish to achieve.
  • When applying blush use a darker shade to contour your face and “lift” your cheekbones. We recommend light colors of Sacha Cosmetics blush to highlight.
  • Use your blush brush to apply blush with small half-moon shaped strokes moving from your hairline to your cheek bones. Do not apply close to the nose. Keep your blush on the cheek bones.
  • If you have sallow skin, pick a foundation that disappears on your face. To counteract your skin tone choose a pink or rosy blush.
  • For a very natural look, apply blush on the cheekbones and eyelids matching the color of the lipstick.
  • To tone down blush, apply a dusting of powder on top to subdue the color.
  • Never overdo your blush application, tap excess blush off your brush before applying.
  • Use a very small amount of blush for mid-day makeup touchup. The oil from your skin will grab color and intensify it.
  • Invest in a big fluffy blush brush just as makeup artists use. It will give you a soft, even blush of color.
  • Apply blush after powder for smooth, even look with no streaking.
  • Glow Without Blushing. When you just want to add warmth to the skin instead of a standard blush color like rose, peach or plum, use a light to medium bronzing powder in place of blush.
  • When you wear blush, DO find a color that is not too red for your skin tone since you will look sunburned.

Apply Liquid Eyeliner

Applying eyeliner is one of the most preferred ways to emphasize a woman’s eyes. No matter whether you will use liquid eyeliner or pencil eyeliner you can easily define your eyes and create a classy look. Although most of the women prefer to use pencil eyeliner as it is much easier for them, the liquid eyeliner is also a great choice for the rest of the women. Before you decide you buy liquid eyeliner you should know that it can be very difficult to apply it flawlessly at first as it needs a lot of practice and patience.

What are the benefits of applying liquid eyeliners?

* frame and defines the eyes
* give a longer lasting line
* accentuate the eyes
* change the eyes’ shape
* fill in sparse lashes
* emphasize the lash line
* deepen the look
* highlight the shape of the eyes

Many of the cosmetic brands offer a wide variety of textures, hues and types which are appropriate for the different needs, weather conditions, shape and color of the eyes. As you know there are: liquid eyeliners /that come with a brush and a tube/, pencil eyeliner, powder eyeliner, mousse eyeliners.

Unlike the pencil eyeliner, the liquid eyeliner should be applied only to the upper lash-line because it is very heavy for the lower lashes. Those who prefer the classy look should consider using only pencil eyeliner, as the liquid eyeliner creates a more dramatic and sophisticated look.

Step One.
Most of the makeup artists advice to apply the liquid eyeliner over the eyeshadows as this way it will stay put on for longer. If you are going to apply an eyeshadow the first thing you should do is to apply an eyeshadow base to avoid smudging and creasing /of course after you have applied your foundation, concealer etc./ Apply the eyeshadows as usual.

Step Two.
Before you begin the application of the eyeliner make sure you have a mild makeup remover and cotton pads in case you make a mistake. It?????s essential to shake the tube before you begin the application. Make sure your hand is steady in order to create a flawless line.

Step Three.
The best way to apply liquid eyeliner is to start drawing in the centre of your upper lash-line. If you find drawing a straight line difficult you can use pencil eyeliner and create a few dashes. Then with the point liner brush of the liquid eyeliner try to connect these dashes. Create only a few dashes. Never draw a line with pencil eyeliner and apply liquid eyeliner over it ????? you can easily ruin the result. Draw the line as close to the lash-line as possible, following the natural curve of your eyelid.

Step Four*.
If you want to create a thicker line, build the line gradually very carefully.

Step Five.
Curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler. Choose black or brown mascara and apply the first coat carefully. After a few minutes apply a second coat. Choose a volumizing or lengthening mascara, depending on your eyelashes. Consider dusting your eyelids with a translucent powder in order to avoid creasing and smudging. Do the rest of your makeup as usual – blush, lipstick, lip gloss, face powder.

Useful Beauty Tips:

  • To make the line longer-lasting you should apply the eyeliner over your eyeshadows.
  • In case you make a mistake use a cotton pad and a mild makeup remover to correct it.
  • Always choose a color that suits your eyes and the color of your eyeshadows.
  • Never apply liquid eyeliner to the lower lash-line, use pencil eyeliner instead.
  • Always start the application in the centre of your eyelash line on the upper eyelid.
  • When applying liquid eyeliner always follow the natural curve of your lash-line.
  • Keep your hand steady – this way it will be easier for you to apply the eyeliner flawlessly.
  • Remember: eyeliner should be applied as close to the lash-line as possible.
  • Never create too thick line at first, build the line gradually.
  • When selecting liquid eyeliner, always make sure you choose one that dries fast in order to avoid smudges.
  • Before applying liquid eyeliner, always shake the tube for a few seconds.
  • Most of the makeup artists advice first to draw a few dashes with a pencil eyeliner and then to apply the liquid eyeliner.
  • If you want to achieve a more dramatic look, create a thicker line.
  • Remember: always apply the liquid eyeliner after the eyeshadows, but before the mascara to prevent smudges.
  • Eyeliners in black, brown and dark violet suits almost everyone.
  • Don’t forget to blend the line carefully, using a small eyeshadow brush.
  • Remember: for liquid eyeliner always use a point liner brush as it will allow you to draw an even line.
  • Never keep your liquid eyeliner in the bathroom as water may trap in it.
  • Remember: always let the eyeliner dry before you open your eye.
  • Never apply eyeliner if your eyes are tired or infected.
  • Harmonize the eyeliner with your mascara, so that it frames your eyes and makes your lashes look thicker.

Proper Diet for Women

The cholesterol-lowering monounsaturated fat in these green health bombs can help keep your body strong and pain free. University of Buffalo researchers found that competitive women runners who ate less than 20 percent fat were more likely to suffer injuries than those who consumed at least 31 percent. Peter J. Horvath, Ph.D., a professor at the university, speculates that the problem is linked to extreme low-fat diets, which weaken muscles and joints. “A few slices of avocado a day are a great way to boost fat for women who are fat shy,” says Leslie Bonci, R.D., director of sports nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Whole Grain Bagels

Never mind Dr. Atkins—carbs are the optimal workout food. “Not the simple ones, because they wind you up and drop you down,” says Jackie Berning, Ph.D., R.D., a nutrition professor at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and counselor to sports teams. “You want complex carbohydrates in their natural package, aka whole grains.” A whole-grain bagel is an ideal pre-sweat-session pick: You’ll digest it slowly because of all the fiber, which will deliver a steady flow of energy over time rather than one big burst.

Bananas

Thanks to bananas’ high potassium content, peeling one is a speedy solution to that stitch in your side. While a lack of sodium is the main culprit behind muscle cramps, studies show potassium plays a supporting role: You need it to replace sweat losses and help with fluid absorption. Bananas are also packed with energizing carbohydrates. One medium-size fruit has 400 milligrams of potassium and as many carbs (29 grams) as two slices of whole-wheat bread.

Berries

USDA researchers recently placed fresh berries on their list of the 20 foods richest in antioxidants. Just a handful of blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries is an excellent source of these potent nutrients, which protect muscles from free radical damage that might be caused by exercise. Shop for berries by the shade of their skin: The deeper the color, the healthier the fruit.
